2024 golden hour beach minis
This year’s golden hour beach mini sessions were an absolute dream! We held three rounds of minis at three beautiful locations, each offering something unique. I love these sessions because they give families a chance to capture gorgeous beach memories without committing to a full-length session or the full price! Let’s take a quick look back at each round:
Round 1: Wingaersheek Beach, Gloucester
Wingaersheek Beach is easily one of my favorite locations in New England. It’s a spot I find myself returning to often, and for good reason. The variety of backdrops is endless! For our first round of golden hour minis, we were blessed with absolutely perfect weather.
Families laughed and played in the green sand dunes, climbed on the rocks, and even splashed around in the ocean. I always like to incorporate playful, interactive prompts during minis, and this location allowed for so much movement and exploration. Whether it was running along the shoreline or playing among the dunes, the variety gave each session a unique feel.
Round 2: Plum Island Beach, Newbury
Plum Island was next on our list, and it did not disappoint! After last year’s major erosion issues, it was such a relief to find that this beach had been filled in with fresh sand. The wide-open space gave us so much room to work with, and the waves at this location are absolutely stunning.
The light at golden hour here was magical, and I love how these photos turned out. The families enjoyed the open shoreline, with the kids running along the water’s edge and splashing in the waves. Plum Island always feels like a hidden gem, especially now that the beach has been restored.
Round 3: Parker River Wildlife Refuge
Our final round of minis was scheduled for Parker River Wildlife Refuge, but unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. The rain came down hard, forcing us to postpone. Rescheduling during my busy season is always a challenge, but we made it work!
A few families were able to join me the next morning for their makeup sessions, while another family met me back at Wingaersheek for theirs. While it’s always disappointing when weather derails our plans, I’m so grateful for the flexibility of my clients and the beautiful photos we were still able to capture.
Looking Ahead
Although I’m sad to see summer go, I’m excited for what’s ahead. The fall minis are coming up quickly, and before we know it, I’ll be planning next year’s beach minis for 2025. I’m so grateful to all the families who joined me for these golden hour sessions this year. There’s nothing like beach minis to capture the carefree magic of summer!
