Amber & Carson's Intimate Wedding at Barker House in Scituate, MA

I first had the pleasure of photographing Amber & Carson during their engagement session at Wingaersheek Beach, where they brought along their sweet dog, Benny. Even though they’re a shy couple, their love for each other shines through in the quietest and most heartfelt ways. While we were shooting, we chatted about their wedding plans. At that time, they were still undecided, tossing around ideas about a private ceremony in the Boston Public Garden or a simple City Hall elopement.

A few weeks later, I received an update—they had decided on a small but full wedding day at the charming Barker House by Wedgwood Weddings in Scituate, MA. I couldn't wait to capture their intimate celebration!

Getting Ready Moments

Amber started her day surrounded by her mom, sisters, and her best friends in the beautiful bridal suite at Barker House. The room was full of excitement as Amber stepped into her gown, the light catching perfectly on the lace and beading. A large mirror in the corner provided the perfect view as her family helped with the final touches, zipping up the dress and adjusting her veil. These quiet, emotional moments set the tone for the day.

Meanwhile, Carson and his groomsmen were having a more laid-back morning, watching football and enjoying each other’s company. We captured Carson in a leather chair, adjusting his cufflinks and preparing for the first look with Amber. There’s something so special about those quiet moments of anticipation.

First Look & Portraits

The first look took place right in front of the venue. Carson’s face lit up the moment he saw Amber, and their connection was palpable as they shared a few private words. After some beautiful formal portraits with their family and wedding party, we had some fun with the bridesmaids in their wine-red dresses, which looked stunning against the lush greenery around the venue.

The Ceremony

Amber and Carson’s ceremony was intimate and personal, officiated by Amber's aunt. Laughter and tears flowed as the couple exchanged vows and rings. It was a short and sweet ceremony that truly reflected their personalities, filled with warmth and love.

Immediately after the ceremony, we jumped in my car and headed to one of my favorite nearby spots—Scituate Lighthouse. The golden hour was perfect, casting a warm glow as the sun dipped below the horizon. Amber’s veil danced in the breeze, making for some magical, windswept shots. Though the temperature dropped as the sun set, we made the most of it before returning to the venue for the reception.

Celebration & Dancing

For such a reserved couple, Amber and Carson surprised everyone with their energy on the dance floor! From the moment the music started, the party was on. One young guest even stole the show a few times with their enthusiastic moves! Amber and Carson, along with their closest friends and family, danced the night away, celebrating their love in style.

Capturing Amber & Carson’s wedding day was an honor. From the quiet moments of the first look to the vibrant energy on the dance floor, their day was a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple. I’m so happy for these two, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for the new Mr. & Mrs. Cushman!
