A Special Boston Photoshoot: Emily & Drew's Pregnancy Announcement

When Lisa, a fellow photographer based in Georgia, reached out to me about booking a session for her son and daughter-in-law while they were visiting Boston, I was thrilled! Emily and Drew had a small window of opportunity for their session, and we had to cross our fingers that the weather would cooperate. Luckily, amidst days of cold and dreary rain, we were gifted with a rare warm and dry day—complete with a touch of golden sunshine.

After chatting with Emily and Drew, we decided on two iconic Boston locations: the Boston Public Garden and Acorn Street in Beacon Hill. The Public Garden, with its timeless beauty, was the perfect setting to begin their session. We wandered through the park, stopping at picturesque spots along the way, capturing both romantic couples' portraits and the exciting moment of their pregnancy announcement. The only challenge? Avoiding the empty duck ponds, which were drained for maintenance! With some careful framing, we made it work beautifully.

Typically, I recommend sunrise sessions for this location to avoid the crowds, but that wasn’t an option for Emily and Drew. Instead, we embraced the hustle and bustle of the city, capturing them amidst the movement of commuters and city-goers. I even had a little fun with Photoshop magic to create some serene moments amid the city energy!

From the Garden, we made our way to Acorn Street—arguably the most photographed street in the country, and for good reason. With its historic charm and well-preserved cobblestone, it provided the perfect backdrop for a few intimate portraits of Emily and Drew, marking this special chapter in their lives.

One of the highlights of the session was getting to know Emily and Drew on a more personal level. I was especially delighted to learn that Drew is a Boston sports fan—because, let’s be honest, we have the best teams in the world (we’ll just momentarily overlook the Bruins).

I’m honored to have been chosen to capture this milestone for them and wish them all the best as they prepare to welcome their little one this fall!
